OPEN BOATYARD WEEKEND

Open Boatyard/Öppet Varv in Ellös will take place 21-23 August 2026. 

Open Yard is Scandinavia's largest sailboat show and West Sweden's largest boat show. The show invites both motorboats and sailingyachts and is held in Hallberg-Rassy's marina in Ellös on island Orust, West Sweden.

Each year, 2026 for the 33rd consecutive year, Hallberg-Rassy hosts an Open Yard for sailing enthusiasts from all over the world. The 2026 event will be held on the long weekend of Friday August 21st through Sunday August 23rd. There is no other place in Scandinavia where you will find this many sailing yachts on display and marine equipment to look at. There will also be powerboats exhibited. You are all invited to join us for this interesting weekend. Also other boat builders and relevant boat equipment suppliers are invited to join as well as pre-owned boats for sale by professional yacht brokers. There will be a lot of interesting boats in the water, as well as 16 yachts in the work shop to look at. So far, for the 2025 event, there were 127 boats from 9-69 ft exhibited; 58 new boats in the marina area (of which 30 are powerboats and 28 sailing boats), 21 in production, 30 pre-owned yachts for sale in the water, 10 fine old classic boats and 8 other interesting boats.

West Sweden's large fall boat show

Between 10.00-18.00 Friday-Saturday, as well Sunday 10.00-16.00 many Hallberg-Rassy boats are shown in the water as well as also 21 Hallberg-Rassy yachts under construction in different stages in the workshops. Boat building will be performed in the work shops, also at the weekend. There is also a vast range of yacht equipment exhibitors in tents at the yard area. The whole boating business is invited to join us and show their boats  too, both sail and power, in the water and on the shore. After special appointment, there will be limited possibilities for trial sails of different models on Monday 24 August 2026.

There will also be many exhibitors of yacht equipment ashore. These exhibitors will show relevant products such as engines, sails, rigs, navigation aids, charging equipment, insurance, winter storage, sailing clubs, maintenance, dingies, outboarders and a lot of other equipment that may be of interest to you. Parking at the show's parking lots and to see the boats in the water and to tour the yard, is free of charge.

There is a part of the harbour for recent premium brokerage, exhibited by professional yacht brokers.

Classic Dock
There is a Classic Dock, with old, well maintained boats, built in the area, not for sale, but wonderful to see.

One Open Yard
There is only one Open Yard and in one place: Ellös. All boat builders in the neighborhood are showing their boats in Ellös. This makes it easier and better for visitors and exhibitors.

long distance sailing lecture by Helena Schneider

It is a great Hallberg-Rassy tradition, now for the 30th time, to have an interesting Saturday evening lecture at the Open Yard/Öppet Varv weekend.

The 2026 lecture will be held in English by Helena Schneider, who has sailed her Hallberg-Rassy 31 Mk II "Freedom" both ways solo over the Atlantic.

Application needed

The lecture will be held on Saturday 22 August 2026 at 19.00 in the cantine up at the boatyard, at the big wooden stairs, and we will start with dinner, followed by the lecture.

As the number of seats to the lecture are limited and a dinner will be served, we request a pre-payment of tickets from you. The Saturday night lecture including dinner by star chef David Lundqvist and beverage costs SEK 695 (roughly 64 Euros) per person. The dinner is: Pepper-fried Corn Chicken, thigh fillet, Focaccia with whipped butter, Green salad – tomato, cucumber, virgin mix – vinaigrette aparte, Roasted broccoli with citronette, Roasted potatoes – herbs, aged cheese, Creamy pepper sauce, Parsley, - Coffee, Raspberry cake with sour cream and mint.
