31 MK II

"GIVES HER OWNER GREAT SATISFACTION"

The Hallberg-Rassy 31 Mark II is an improvement of the Hallberg-Rassy 31. The 31 was, including the Mk II, built for 18 years (!) from 1992 - 2009 in 356 units, which is one of the longest production runs in history of Hallberg-Rassy. From model year 2006, production number 307, the boat was modified on thirteen points to the Mark II version.

SPARE PARTS

IMPROVEMENTS WITH THE MK II VERSION

For model year 2006, the Hallberg-Rassy 31 was introduced in a Mark II version. The improvements are:

  • New toe rail in aluminium/teak without holes
  • The rig upgraded to a two-spreader rig with a more slender mast profile
  • New engine: Volvo Penta D1-20, with lower revolution and higher torque
  • A significantly more powerful alternator, 115 A compared to 60 A earlier
  • More rounded design of the interior, with rounded and profile milled edges with ventilation grids above
  • Wash basin and counter top in the head of the composite/stone material Corian
  • A separate ventilated wet locker
  • Companionway sliding hatch in smoke coloured plexi glass with handlebar in teak, giving more light in the entrance area
  • The drawers now slide on ball bearings, which also have a built-in end-stop
  • In order to obtain a smoother operation of the cupboard doors in the interior we now introduce transparent rubber stoppers
  • The deck fittings for fresh water and fuel filling are upgraded to stainless steel and there is no longer any need for a winch handle when opening or closing. That also eliminates the risk for over tensioning and consequently damage of the o ring
  • The bracket for 3 kilo gas bottles (if such are ordered) will now be fitted in such a way that the risk of the bottle standing in water is decreased
  • Capacity of hot water calorifier (if ordered) has been increased from 22 litres to 24 litres

WELL LAID OUT INTERIOR

The interior woodwork and joinery is done in the selected mahogany that has become a Hallberg-Rassy trademark. The interior is extremely well laid out for her size. A full size navigation table, a spacious galley, saloon, large head and shower compartment, and two private staterooms gives you the volume and space that you would normally find on a much larger boat.

COMFORTABLE COCKPIT

The cockpit is comfortable and easily accommodates your guest, and has generous capabilities.

EXCELLENT SAILING CHARACTERISTICS

Designed by Germán Frers, the Hallberg-Rassy 31 Mk II has excellent sailing characteristics. The boat is well balanced, and gently moves through the water, pointing and going to weather like no other 31 foot performance cruiser of her time age. She is easily single handed, as all lines are lead aft to the cockpit.

DESIGNER´S COMMENTS

"Sailing with safety and comfort at a good speed are the main characteristics offered by the Hallberg-Rassy 31. This medium displacement modern hull is fitted with efficient keel, rudder and a modern comprehensive fractional rig. The result is a boat, which can cope with all weather conditions safely, and will also give the owner and his family many hours of pleasant sailing.

The interior is exceptionally well laid out giving an air of spaciousness unusual for a boat of this size. There are two separate double cabins, one forward and one aft, also a large toilet aft. With a full size saloon, ample galley and complete chart table, it offers the amenities and comfort of a larger yacht. There is excellent protection from the weather in the aft cockpit. The seats are two metres long. Part of the starboard seat lifts up to give access to a very generous stowage area.

For a yachtsman not interested in the latest racing gimmicks but in a proper 9.5 metre boat with a more than respectable speed, with good cruising attributes, the Hallberg-Rassy 31 will be very hard to beat."

PRESS CLIP

Quote from the Swedish yachting magazine Båtnytt:
"Extremely spacious, light and inviting interior. The sailing and sea-going qualities are in a class of its own. Being a cruiser, the speed through water and the angle towards the wind is quite amazing. A modern, safe cruiser that gives its owner great satisfaction."
