Totalt byggdes 904 Monsun 31 mellan 1974 - 1982. Monsunen är Hallberg-Rassys allra populäraste modell genom tiderna. Ingen annan modell har kommit upp i så många exemplar som 904. Båten såldes över hela världen, men de mest populära områdena är Skandinavien och Tyskland. Hon är en gedigen långfärdsseglare utan krusiduller. Båten har aldrig varit modern men kommer alltid att vara attraktiv. Det är inte särskilt förvånande att det är just en Monsun som blivit den första plastbåten som hamnat på ett museum. Svenske Kurt Björklunds HR 31 Monsun "Golden Lady" finns nu, efter tre och ett halvt varv runt jorden med endast Kurt ombord, på Råå Museum, i södra Sverige. Kurt Björklund var förste ägaren och fick leverans av båten i Ellös hamn 1974. Kurt visste att han ville långsegla, men att det skulle bli hela tre och ett halvt varv runt jorden, ensam, kunde han då inte ana. 1983 pensionerade sig Kurt och begav sig ut på sin första ensamsegling jorden runt. Vid den andra jordenruntseglingen rundade Kurt Kap Horn. Det har aldrig gjorts några särskilda förstärkningar på Golden Lady för att klara av de tuffa förhållandena. Kurt byggde en hardtop, för ännu bättre skydd mot väder och vind. Kurt skänkte sin trotjänare till Råå Museum. -Jag gav 106 000 kr för henne ny och skulle kanske ha fått drygt 300 000 kronor om jag sålde henne. Men jag skulle inte klara av att inte veta var hon är och hur det går för henne. Jag avstår hellre från pengarna och får ro i själen i stället, sa Kurt. Kurt levde mellan 1921 och 2006. Han började dock segla först som 50-åring. Vid 80-årsåldern valde han att inte segla mer p g a hälsoskäl. Han skaffade sig en kolonistuga med utsikt över Öresund, där han kunde se båtarna segla förbi. För ingen skall inbilla sig att Kurt intresserat sig för att odla grönsaker.

Hull
Galssfibre reinforced plastic (GRP).

GRP-sandwich construction with polyvinyl cellular plastic as core material for strength and insulation.

Hull and deck completely joined by overlapping GRP laminate. Bulwark formed in the deck and hull mouldings and fitted with a solid capping in teak.
Handrails, Cappings on cockpit coamings, Companionway, Hatchguides, Sole and Seats in cockpit are all in solid teak. All teak except sole and seats are varnished.
The deck has a moulded in non-skid surface and is provided with four 1" scuppers draining below water line to avoid discoloured topsides. Two 11/2" scuppers from the watertight and self draining cockpit.Spars and rigging

Engine and shaft carefully aligned and rubber suspended. The engine foundation is made in GRP and forms a spill tray under the engine. The engine compartment is sound insulated for lowest possible sound level. Shaft bearing cutlass water lubricated rubber bearing. "Wet" exhaust line in rubber with Volvo special muffler. Built in fuel tank 120 litres (32 US gallon) with separate pump for draining of eventual water.Accommodation
First class workmanship in selected mahogany, hand rubbed and treated to a silk smooth finish.
The accommodation consists from forward:
Water and gastight stowage for anchor and lines and also for eventual liquid gas bottles accessible from deck. The space is drained overboard.
Forward stateroom with two comfortable berths. Length 2.0m (6' 7"). Filler between berths gives 0.8m width at shoulder. Below the berths is the water tank and storage. The inside of the hull is lined with mahogany. Shelves at sides.
A folding door separates the forward stateroom from the toilet compartment.
The toilet compartment is fitted with a reliable marine pump toilet and sliding wash basin with freshwater from foot pump. On starboard side is a good sized open hanging locker and space for eventual heater. The walls are covered with light color linen texture vinyl. Teak grating on drained floor. Head room 1.75m (5' 9").

The main cabin is built with fair sized sofa-berths on both sides. The port side sofa is made as a L-sofa. Behind the swing up backrests is stowage for bedding. Length of berths 2.0m (6' 7"). Shelves and lockers outside the sofas. The lowering table together with the L-sofa forms a double berth. The inside of the hull above berths is panelled with mahogany. The ceiling is lined with somvyl. The glassfibre floor is covered with wall to wall carpet. The cushions are all in heavy polyeter foam, 4" thickness. The upholstery in high quality furniture fabrics.
Aft in main cabin is on starboard side navigators table with chart locker, drawers and el.panel. A quarter berth is arranged aft of the navigators table and is used also as the navigators seat. A hanging space for oilskins is arranged against the engine bulkhead.
On port side is a L-shaped galley with stainless sink and foot operated fresh water pump. The galley is fitted with a stainless two burner kerosene stove in gimbals. The boat is also available with a liquid gas stove with oven. Lockers for cookery etc. Insulated ice-box, capacity 70 litres. Working surfaces on countertop and navigators table in teak texture plastic laminate. Headroom in main cabin 1.83 m (6').
The cockpit is self draining but with low sill height for easy access to the accommodation. Seats and floor are covered with teak gratings. Length of cockpit: 2.0m (6' 7"). Stowage in aft peak and port quarter is assessable from cockpit. Main sheet and compass on low beam.
